Police charged an Allegheny County district judge yesterday with carrying a concealed weapon without a license shortly after he quarreled with a relative at a West View auto repair shop.
Senior District Judge Donald H. Presutti, 59, of Bellevue, was arrested around 3 p.m. outside of West View Auto Body on Perry Highway, where he was found with a cocked and loaded handgun, said West View Police Chief Charles M. Holtgraver.
Police said they initially responded to men arguing outside of the repair shop, where they found Mr. Presutti bickering with his father-in-law.
Mr. Presutti and his father-in-law left the scene without incident.
But Mr. Presutti returned to the shop shortly after the incident, and this time, police were told he was carrying a weapon. When police confronted him in the parking lot about the weapon, Mr. Presutti cooperated and handed over the handgun.
Police said Mr. Presutti said he was scared for his safety and returned to the shop with the gun so he could pick up his vehicle, which was there.
He was expected to be arraigned at city Night Court.
